Amma’s Fresh Tomato Juice

Asha Gomez’s childhood home in Kerala was near the Catholic school, and she remembers priests and nuns dropping by often just to drink her mother’s tomato juice. This thin juice is unlike any store-bought American variety. It’s light, fresh, a little sweet, and packed with the essence of tomato.

  1. 1/2 pound roma tomatoes peeled with a peeler and cut into 4 quarters.
  2. 2 cups water
  3. 1/2 cup sugar
  1. In a blender mix all the ingredients together, strain and serve in a tall glass with ice cubes.
