Cake Baking and Decorating Retreat

Golden Gate Bridge

San Francisco, California
October 17–18, 2020

$2,000.00

In this two-day, intensive, hands-on cake baking retreat at San Francisco Cooking School, you’ll bake alongside our editor-in-chief, Brian Hart Hoffman, and learn expert cake advice from chef instructor Robin Rodriguez.

At this retreat, you will bake your own multi-layer cake from start to finish. You’ll learn techniques for baking tender layers of moist yellow cake; how to prepare delicious fillings such as jam, buttercream, and whipped ganache; pro tips for crumb coating cakes; best practices for assembling; how to make a luxurious Italian meringue buttercream; and how to pipe and decorate like a true pro.

We will dive deep into a variety of pastry tips, building in lots of time for you to get practiced in piping a variety of different decorating techniques. You’ll learn how to finish your cake with a smooth or textured finish; how tools like cake wheels, combs, and spatulas are your new best friends; and how to color your buttercream for a picture perfect end result.

Each day at San Francisco Cooking School includes morning coffee, lunch (with wine to celebrate your baking accomplishments!), and plenty of time to taste and talk about all things cake-related. So, roll up your sleeves, tie on your apron, and let’s bake.

Please note all 14 spots of this baking retreat must be filled by September 15 for the retreat to take place. Don’t wait! Register today.

We will send an email confirmation to all participants when this number has been met.
