On the heels of our best-selling French issue, we are bringing the pages of our magazine to life so you can meet the talented people featured and learn French baking techniques from the best. This week-long trip will start and end in Paris, with travel to the picturesque medieval town of Beaune, located in the heart of Burgundy.

Sunday, September 29
Arrive in Paris and get settled into the chic Hotel 9Confidentiel in the Marais neighborhood. We’ll have an early evening wine gathering La Cuisine Paris so you can meet your fellow travelers as well as our team. You’ll have the evening to yourself to try the restaurants on our list of top places to dine in Paris.

Monday, September 30

Day 1 at La Cuisine Paris: You’ll participate in a morning and afternoon baking module that includes working with classic dough, from pâte brisée to pâte sucrée and French sablés as well as croissants and breakfast pastry. Lunch will be provided, and class will run from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. In the early evening, we’ll join cookbook author Dorie Greenspan for an aperitif at Mokonuts. 

Tuesday, October 1
Day 2 at La Cuisine Paris. You’ll participate in a morning and afternoon baking module that includes a macaron intensive, focusing on French and Italian meringue with four fillings, as well as classic French desserts and their sauces, like crème brûlée, madeleines, baba au rhum, and caramel au beurre salé and chocolate sauces. Lunch will be provided, and class will run from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Enjoy the afternoon and evening on your own, equipped with our recommendations for the best eating, drinking, and entertainment in Paris.

Wednesday, October 2
Learn cake decorating from Frank Barron at his stunning apartment in the Marais, get expert food photography tips from Joann Pai, and join author Lindsey Tramuta on a guided tour to some of Paris’s top bread bakeries. Enjoy the afternoon and evening on your own, equipped with our recommendations for the best eating, drinking, and entertainment in Paris.

Thursday, October 3
Enjoy morning free time before a group train departure to Beaune. Spend the afternoon getting settled into the five-star Hotel Le Cep before a private dinner at The Cook’s Atelier featuring seven courses with wine pairings.

Friday, October 4
One group will head to The Cook’s Atelier for a baking class followed by a seven-course meal and wine, while the other group will be on their own to explore Beaune. We’ll share our list of must-visit wineries, tasting rooms, and brocantes.

Saturday, October 5
It’s market day in Beaune, so we’ll all meet at the city’s center for a guided tour by The Cook’s Atelier. Then one group will head to The Cook’s Atelier for a baking class followed by a seven-course meal and wine, while the other group will be on their own to explore Beaune. We’ll share our list of must-visit wineries, tasting rooms, and brocantes.

Sunday, October 6
Travel back to Paris. We will help you choose the best train departure for your flight schedule.

Accommodations in Paris
Located in the Marais neighborhood of Paris, Hotel 9Confidentiel is a five-star boutique hotel that’s a quick five-minute walk to La Cuisine Paris as well as many other of Paris’s most beautiful sites, shopping districts, and eateries.

Accommodations in Beaune
The five-star Hotel Le Cep in Beaune is a quick walk to The Cook’s Atelier and just steps away from Hospices de Beaune, tasting rooms, boulangeries, pâtisseries, and amazing restaurants.

Booking
Half of the trip cost (50%) is due at booking. The second half of trip cost (50%) is due by July 29, 2019. Your reservation will be confirmed upon receipt of deposit. We accept payment by American Express, Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, and Amazon Pay. Trip prices are in US dollars.

Travel to/from Charles de Gaulle Airport
Guests are responsible for getting themselves to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris and to Hotel Confidentiel. On Sunday, October 6, you’ll return to Paris by train in time for afternoon departures. Guests will be responsible for transportation from the train station to Charles de Gaulle Airport or their next destination.

Costs
The price of the trip includes all hotel accomodations, train transfers to/from Beaune, transfer from Paris hotel to train station for Beaune departure, transfer to/from Beaune train station to hotel, all baking classes and workshops, and some meals.

Trip is priced for single or double occupancy. Those who choose double occupancy must guarantee travel companion is registered, so we recommend booking at the same time because space is limited. If you choose double occupancy and do not have a travel companion, you will be charged for the single occcupancy price. 

Since the trip is nonrefundable, we suggest buying trip insurance through a company like Travelex. You can also check with your credit card company to see if they provide travel insurance.

If you don’t purchase travel insurance, you agree to indemnify us against any charges that might otherwise be covered by your insurance. You further agree that we are not responsible for any costs of cancellation by you.

Your credit card will be charged by Hoffman Media, the parent company of Bake from Scratch.

Cancellation
We reserve the right to cancel the trip if fewer than 10 participants have signed up within 8 weeks prior to retreat date. If Bake from Scratch initiates the cancellation, we will refund all payments.
