There’s no better time to experience Paris and Burgundy than during fall, when the air is crisp, the light is magical, and cozy foods are returning to menus. This eight-night baking retreat will give you plenty of time to explore Paris and the medieval town of Beaune in Burgundy. In Paris, classes are held at La Cuisine Paris, which is located along the Seine and a quick walk from our group hotel. In Beaune, classes are held at The Cook’s Atelier, where you’ll learn from mother-daughter duo Marjorie Taylor and Kendall Smith Franchini.

RESERVE YOUR SPOT

To reserve your space, email the following information to events@bakefromscratch.com.

Reservations will be taken in the order in which we receive emails. 
  • Registration type (single, double, baker plus non-baking participant)
  • Phone number so we can contact you to take your deposit
  • Your travel companion’s name, if applicable 

You are required to pay your deposit within 48 hours of receiving a confirmation email. If you fail to pay your deposit within 48 hours of emailing, you will no longer have a reservation. Reservations will be taken in the order in which we receive emails.


Saturday, September 9
Arrive in Paris and get settled into 9Confidentiel hotel. We’ll have an evening wine reception at La Cuisine Paris so you can meet our team and your fellow bakers. Dinner will be on your own with our list of top restaurants to try while you’re in Paris.

Sunday, September 10
The group will travel together by train to Beaune and get settled into Hôtel Le Cep. Evening and dinner will be on your own with our list of top restaurants to try while you’re in Beaune.

Monday, September 11
Group 1 will prepare a seasonal Burgundian wine lunch at The Cook’s Atelier. (Learn to prepare gougères, tarte Tatin, and more.)

Group 2 will head to Edmond Fallot La Moutarderie for a mustard tour and tasting. You’ll also have free time to shop, visit the Hospices de Beaune, and partake in wine tastings.

Evening and dinner will be on your own with our list of top restaurants to try while you’re in Beaune.

Tuesday, September 12

Wednesday, September 13
Enjoy the morning in Beaune exploring the Wednesday farmers’ market before traveling back to Paris as a group on the train. Upon arrival in Paris, we will check back into 9Confidentiel hotel. Evening and dinner will be on your own with our list of top restaurants to try while you’re in Paris.

Thursday, September 14
Enjoy the morning free before an afternoon baking class at La Cuisine Paris from 2:30 to 6:30. (We’ll focus on fall recipes featuring apples and pears.) 

Dinner will be on your own with our list of top restaurants to try while you’re in Paris.

Friday, September 15
We’ll start our day at the storied Marché Monge before heading back to La Cuisine Paris to cook and prepare a fabulous market lunch. The afternoon and evening will be on your own with our list of top restaurants to try while you’re in Paris.

Saturday, September 16
Enjoy the morning free before an afternoon baking class at La Cuisine Paris from 2:30 to 6:30. (We’ll focus on fall recipes featuring apples and pears.) After class, we’ll gather for a farewell toast and group dinner.

Accommodations in Paris
9Confidentiel is a four-star boutique hotel located in the Marais neighborhood of Paris and a quick five-minute walk from La Cuisine Paris. This cozy hotel is located on a picturesque street, just steps away from some of the best restaurants, wine bars, coffee shops, tearooms, and shopping in Paris.

Due to the uniqueness and European charm of this hotel, double-occupancy rooms do not have two beds. Two sets of linens for one bed can be provided upon request.  

Accommodations in Beaune
The five-star Hôtel Le Cep in Beaune, located within the walled city, is a quick walk to The Cook’s Atelier, Hospices de Beaune, tasting rooms, boulangeries, pâtisseries, and amazing restaurants.

Due to the uniqueness and European charm of this hotel, double-occupancy rooms do not have two beds. Two sets of linens for one bed can be provided upon request.

Booking
To be confirmed, half of the retreat cost (50%) is due within 48 hours of booking. The second half of the retreat cost (50%) is due April 3, 2023. We accept payment by American Express, Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, and Amazon Pay. Trip prices are in US dollars.

Travel to and from Paris
Guests are responsible for getting themselves to Paris and to 9Confidentiel on Saturday, September 9, when the retreat commences. Guests will be responsible for getting themselves from 9Confidentiel to the airport or their next destination on Sunday, September 17.

Costs
The price of the trip includes all hotel accommodations, all baking classes, all scheduled retreat activities, train transfers to/from Beaune, breakfast daily, some meals, welcome wine reception, and group dinner in Paris.

Single-occupancy, double-occupancy, and baking participant plus non-baking guest rates are available.

Your credit card will be charged by Hoffman Media, the parent company of Bake from Scratch.

Cancellation
Since the trip is nonrefundable, we suggest buying trip insurance.

If you don’t purchase travel insurance, you agree to indemnify us against any charges that might otherwise be covered by your insurance. You further agree that we are not responsible for any costs of cancellation or costs related to COVID-19. Due to COVID-19, there may be limitations relating to activities. Certain services and amenities may be reduced or unavailable as a result of changing circumstances. Please know that we are working closely with our partners to plan and execute a safe baking retreat for our guests, but there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 when traveling. By booking this baking retreat, you acknowledge and assume these risks associated with travel. 

If a mandatory quarantine for visitors is in effect for travel to France during the retreat, the retreat will be cancelled and your money will be refunded in full. If quarantine is required of you due to not meeting entry standards such as a COVID-19 vaccination, you are responsible for adhering to France’s quarantine regulations and will not be offered a refund. You are responsible for following all travel protocols to enter France. This may include proof of vaccination, a health visa, and negative COVID-19 test. (We will help you navigate this process, don’t worry.)

We reserve the right to cancel this retreat if fewer than 16 participants have signed up by July 1, 2023. We will send an email confirmation to all participants when this number has been met. If Bake from Scratch initiates the cancellation, we will refund all payments. Please note that we are monitoring travel advisories related to the COVID-19 pandemic closely.

If I book a double-occupancy package, will the hotel room have two beds?

Is breakfast included?
Daily breakfast is included at the hotels in Paris and Beaune.

Are children able to attend this retreat?
All participants must be 18 years old or older to attend this baking retreat.

What should I plan to wear during baking classes?
Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Long hair should be pulled back. Aprons will be provided.

Are the baking classes hands-on?
Yes, all baking classes will be hands-on.

Is this retreat better-suited for professionals or home bakers?
Our retreats are geared for passionate home bakers, but professionals are always welcome.

Will we have any free time?
You will have some free time in Paris and Beaune to explore, shop, sip, and eat.

I want to bring my travel companion, but they don’t want to participate in the baking classes. What can they do?
We offer a baking participant plus non-baking guest package for this very reason! This package allows you to bake and participate in all retreat activities while your travel companion explores Paris and Beaune on their own. As a part of this package, hotel accommodations, train transfers to/from Beaune, daily breakfast, welcome wine reception, and the group dinner in Paris are included for your non-baking companion.
