By day, Mike Johnson is a successful attorney, but by night, he’s the savvy blogger behind Mike Bakes NYC. Packed with recipes like Red Velvet Macarons, a chocolate-hazelnut babka, and Salted Caramel Brownie Cups (Mike’s first-ever original recipe), his blog is the ultimate destination when only decadence will do. Mike’s blog dates back to his law school days. He posted about the good eats he found around New York City as a way of decompressing from his studies.

Now that he’s earned his Juris Doctor and works a nine-to-five, Mike doesn’t have as much time to scope out restaurants for the best baked goods. Over the last year and a half, he’s been developing and photographing his own recipes instead, inspired by the bustling food scene of the Big Apple. His specialties? Luxurious macarons and every variety of brownies you could ever crave. “I work really long hours, but it’s therapeutic to come home and end my day by baking something comforting,” Mike says. That’s why his recipes are the kind that’ll fill you up with warmth and plenty of sweetness.

Must-Bake from the Blog: “ I have an entire section for brownies on the blog, but the Ultimate Fudge Brownies are a crowd favorite. They’re incredibly chewy and rich but with that perfect crackled top.”
